Staff Selection Commission CHSL Exam Pattern:

Tier-I Exam Pattern:
·         Tier-I Exam is Computer Based Exam.
·         Multiple choice questions will be asked from the subjects namely (Part-I) General Intelligence, (Part-2) English Language, (Part-3) Quantitative Aptitude, and (Part-4) General Awareness / General Knowledge.
·         Exam will have 100 questions for 200 marks.
·         Solve the question paper within 70 minutes.
·         Questions will be set both in English & Hindi for the part: 1, 3 & 4.
·         There will be negative marking of 0.50 marks for each wrong answer.

Tier-II Exam Pattern:
·         Tier- II Exam is the descriptive type and will be conducted offline (pen & paper mode).
·         Write essay / précis / letters / application writing etc.
·         Exam will be conducted for 100 marks,
·         Duration of exam will be 01 hours.
·         Exam will have to be written either in Hindi or in English.

Tier-3 Exam Pattern:
·         Typing Test: Typing test will be applicable for Postal Assistant/Sorting Assistant, LDC and Court Clerk posts.
·         Those who are opting English typing should have the typing speed of 35 words per minute.
·         Those who are opting Hindi typing should have the typing speed of 30 words per minute.

Skill Test:
·         Skill Test will be applicable only to Data Entry Operator post.
·         Candidates have Data Entry Speed of 8,000 key depressions per hour on the computer.

Tier II Syllabus
·         Exam will be of descriptive type i.e. Pen and Paper Mode.
·         Time duration for this exam will be 60 minutes only.
·         Descriptive exam will be organized to assess the writing skills
·         Those will appear in Exam, you can write the answers in Hindi or English.
·         This exam comprises writing of an Essay of 200 – 250 words and Letter / Application writing of about 150-200 words.


Tier III Syllabus

Skill test for Data Entry Operator:
·         Skill test will be organized only for Data Entry Operator post.
·         Applicants must have Data Entry Speed of 8,000 (eight thousand) Key Depressions per hour on Computer.
·         The ‘Speed of 8000 key depressions per hour on Computer’ will be adjudged on the basis of the correct entry of words/key depressions.
·         Only 15 minutes will be allotted to the aspirants.
·         The printed matter in English containing about 2000- 2200 strokes/key-depressions would be given to each candidate who would enter the same in the Computer.

Typing Test for Postal Assistant/Sorting Assistant LDCs and Court Clerks:

·         After qualifying the Computer-based Written Examination (Tier-I) and Descriptive Paper (Tier-II), you’re eligible to appear in Typing Test.
·         This exam will be qualifying in nature only and it will be organized in English or Hindi.
·         Fill your choice/option for Skill Test Medium.
·         If you are selecting the English medium then you should have typing speed of 35 words per minute
·         For Hindi medium should have the typing speed of 30 words per minute.
·         10 minutes will be allotted and 30 Minutes for Visually Handicapped candidates.
