University of Tripura was
released on October 2, 1987. First institution of state higher education, MBB
College, began operating in 1947 with the affiliation of the University of
Calcutta, but in the period immediately following the partition of the state's
population has experienced strong growth and so has the number of students
pursuing higher education.
The launch of MBB College was soon followed by the
establishment in 1950 of Ramakrishna Mahabhidyalay in Kailasahar, current seat
of Unokoti Tripura district. In 1964 Belonia College was launched in southern
Tripura, followed three years after the creation of Ram Thakur College in 1967
in Agartala. Student’s state was paralyzed by a crucial fact: all college had
to get affiliation with the University of Calcutta and no place for a college
education existed in Tripura.

Educational
Qualification:
- Candidates should have completed Master’s Degree, Ph.D in concerned subjects from a recognized Institution/ University with good academic records.
- Candidates must have qualified in UGC/ CSIR NET/ SLET with
relevant experience.
