Qualification required
Applicants should possess graduate in Law of a University or Institution recognized by the Government.

Age limit: 
·         Age should be in between 23 – 35 years of age on the 1st August 2017. 
·         Relaxation in upper age limit will be applicable as per government rules & regulations.

Contenders should be able to speak, read and write Odia fluently and must have passed an examination in Odia Language equivalent to that of middle English school standard.

Odisha Judicial Service Admit Card 2017

·         Odisha Judicial Service Admit Card 2017 for preliminary written exam is generated for candidates who will apply for the exam by due date.
·         Admit card is an essential document which contains Candidates Name, Roll number, Exam venue etc. ,candidates must carry their admit card to the examination centre to appear for the examination.

OJSE Examination Pattern:

Preliminary written examination

Preliminary written examination shall be of one paper carrying 100 marks with duration of one and half hours with objective type questions of multiple choice (i.e. 100 questions of one mark each with negative marks of twenty-five percent of the marks allotted to a question for every wrong answer) on the following subjects and the OMR answer sheets will be scrutinized by computer

·         Code of Criminal Procedure
·         Evidence Act
·         Indian Penal Code
·         Limitation Act
·         Transfer of Property Act
·         Contact Act
·         Law of Succession
·         Specific Relief Act.

Main written examination

·         Main written examination shall be on the two compulsory papers and three optional papers that are mentioned below.
·         Each of the compulsory subjects shall carry 150 marks with a duration of two and half hours and each of the optional subjects shall carry 150 marks with a duration of three hours.

Compulsory Papers

Paper 1 – General English
·         Translation and re translation of ten lines each
·         A short essay of about 150 words
·         Precis writing consisting of 300 words
·         1 (one) passage of about 500 words with 5 questions

Paper 2 – Procedural Laws
·         The Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973
·         The Code of Civil Procedure, 1908
·         The Indian Evidence Act, 1872

Optional Papers

Contenders can choose any of the three subjects among the following –

·         Law of Crime & Law of Torts
·         Personal Law: Hindu Law; Mohammedan Law
·         Law of Property: Transfer of property Act, 1882; Specific Relief Act, 1963; Indian Limitation Act, 1963
·         Law of Contract: Indian Contract Act, 1872; Sales of Goods Act, 1930; Partnership Act, 1932; Negotiable Instrument Act, 1881
·         Jurisprudence and Constitution of India

·         Odisha Judicial Service Interview shall carry 100 marks.
·         Questions to be asked in the interview may not ordinarily be outside the syllabus prescribed for the main written examination.
·         In OJSE Interview questions covering broad National and International issues and matters of common interest in the field of Arts and Science may also be asked

Pay Scale:
 27,700-770-33,090- 920-40,450-1080-44,770/-, with usual dearness allowance and other allowances as sanctioned by the Government of Odisha from time to time as admissible.

·         Application Fees is non-refundable and non-adjustable. 
·         Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe of Odisha and persons with disability (O.H.) whose disability is not less than 40% are exempted from payment of this fee.
