In the state of Andhra Pradesh there is approximately 12 lakh, unemployed people only. The committee would look into how states like West Bengal and Tamil Nadu are giving benefits to unemployed youths before it comes up with a plan suitable for Andhra Pradesh.
Andhra Pradesh Govt. has decided to give a monthly allowance of around Rs 2,000 for each unemployed youth in the state till they find a job. Even though the date of launch has not been announced officially, soon the Govt. is going to launch the scheme. As per sources, the authority is still collecting the data.
The assistance will be given for two to three years and first preference would be given to those who are registered with service exchanges and bureaus for last five years. Only one unemployed person in a family would receive the benefit.
AP Unemployment Allowance Scheme Details
· India is a country of the youth. In the total population, youth consists 65 percent, whereas, in countries like Japan, China and USA, people above 60 are the majority. The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) had promised in its 2014 election manifesto that it would ensure at least one job for each family in the state and a financial assistance of Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,000 to unemployed youth.
· As per the promise, the officials are doing all background work to begin the scheme as soon as possible. As per the suggestions, given by Andhra Pradesh Cabinet sub-committee, the government may request receiver to participate in community development projects in villages.
AP Unemployment Scheme Eligibility
· State government has restricted the scheme to people only those in the age group of 18 to 40 years.
· Allowance payable to them would depend on their qualifications.
· A postgraduate will receive Rs.2, 000 a month, a graduate, Rs.1, 500 and an intermediate pass Rs.1,000.
· An SSC pass would also be eligible for the allowance, but the quantum has not been decided.

· Andhra governments also offer to hike the budgetary allocation to Rs 1,000 crore. The government has also allocated Rs 398 crore to impart skill development and entrepreneur training to the unemployed youth.
· Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, who heads the subcommittee, said that steps are being taken by the Andhra government to impart skill development and training and create more job opportunities for youth.
· Earlier at a review meeting held at the Secretariat, Mr. Lokesh asked officials to collect information about unemployed youth available with all the departments, consolidate it and present before Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu at the review meeting that will be held soon.
· Citing the West Bengal model, Mr. Lokesh suggested essential changes and asked officials to start an employment bank where unemployed youth can apply using their Aadhaar numbers.
· Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will announce the rollout of the much awaited Unemployment Allowance Scheme soon after completing background work by the officials.
· The proposal to provide Unemployment Allowance has been hanging fire for a while, prompting the opposition to use the delay to attack the ruling party.
· Only those on employment exchanges registers will be eligible for the benefits of the scheme. Youth not on the rolls will, on the other hand, be given time to get the formalities completed.
