The SSC CGL 2019 consists of Tier 1, 2, 3, 4. In order to qualify the examination candidates required to qualify all the four tiers. Tier 1 and 2 are the Computer-based examination consists of multiple choice questions. Tier 3 is the offline descriptive test whereas tier 4 is of qualifying nature. Stages of SSC CGL Selection Process 2019:
Tier I - Computer based examination
Tier II - Computer based examination
Tier III - Descriptive Paper

Tier I - Computer based examination:
- Tier 1 consist of four subjects that is-
- Quantitative Aptitude
- English
- Reasoning
- General Knowledge.
- Tier I is the computer based test consist of multiple choice questions
- Total Number of questions- 100 questions
- Negative marking- of 0.5 marks

Those candidates who will successfully clear the Tier 1 examination will become eligible for the Tier 2 examination. If candidates fail to qualify the Tier 1 exam then they will not be allowed to appear in Tier 2 examination.

SSC CGL Tier II Selection Process:
- Tier 2 consist of two subjects that is-
- Quantitative Aptitude
- English Comprehension
- Tier II consist of multiple choice questions
- Total Number of questions- 300 questions
- Negative marking- of 0.5 marks

Note:
- Candidates going to appear for all the posts have to appear for Paper - I and Paper - II
- Aspirants who have applied for Junior Statistical Officer Post require to appear for Paper - I, Paper - II and Paper - III.
- Candidates who are going for Assistant Audit/Accounts Officer Post have to appear for Paper - I, Paper - II and Paper -IV
- And those who are going to appear for Statistical Investigator and AAO examination have to appear for all Paper - I, Paper - II, Paper - III and Paper - IV.

SSC CGL Tier 3 Selection Process:
- Those who will clear the Tier 2 exam have to go for further selection process that is Tier 3
- Tier 3 is the offline test Descriptive in Nature, the purpose of this test is to writing skills of Candidates. The exam is of 100 marks.
- Exam will consist of, Essay/ Application /Letter/ Precis/ Report – Writings.
- Total number of marks is 100 and candidates must have to score at least 33 marks out of 100.
SSC CGL Tier 4 Selection Process:
- Those aspirants who will successfully qualify the Tier 3 exam have to go for tier 4 examination. Those candidates who have applied for AAO and Junior Statistical Officer have not require to appear for Tier 4 examination.
- The Tier 4 is of qualifying nature and no marks will be added in final merit list. That is if any of the aspirants fails to pass CPT or DEST Test then they will not eligible for posts as given in below table. But he/she is eligible for the posts of other departments other than the mentioned in the given table.
