Eligibility Criteria
Nationality:For IAS, IFS and IPS, a candidate must be a citizen of India. For other posts, a candidate may be a citizen of India or subject of Nepal or Bhutan or Tibet.
Educational Qualification:
The minimum Educational Qualification required to be able to apply for the UPSC Civil Service Preliminary Exam 2025 is Graduation from a recognized University. A candidate who is appearing in the final examination and expected to complete his or her Graduation by the time limit specified by the commission are also eligible to apply.
Age Limit:
The minimum age is 21 years of age and maximum is 32 years. Permissible relaxation for reserved and special categories as applicable according to Govt of India regulations.
Mode of Application
The only mode of application is online via upsconline.nic.in. Candidates will have to register themselves for the One Time Registration (OTR) in the UPSC portal.

Required Documents for Online Application
This time around, the UPSC has implemented scrutiny via online application for the Preliminary Exam Stage itself.
Earlier this scrutiny used to be done at the Mains examination stage. However, in view of the recent development, necessary changes has been introduced.
You will be required to upload the following documents, apart from your recent Passport size Photograph and Signature:
1) Matriculation Certificate as proof of Date of Birth
2) Graduation Completion/Appearing Certificate
3) Category/Caste/Tribe/Disability Certificates as applicable
4) Domicile Certificate if applicable
* Candidates are advised to apply well in advance. Although the Preliminary Ecamination will be conducted across several cities in India, allotment to the desired venue is not assured.
So don't wait until the last date to apply for the UPSC Civil Service Preliminary Exam 2025.
