JEE JoSAA 2016 - 17 Counselling Online Registration Important Dates

Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) has announced JoSAA counselling 2016
from June 24 onwards with registration and choice filling. The counselling authority has extended the last date for registration and choice filling till June 29 (12 pm). Earlier, the deadline for registration and choice filling was June 28, 2016. JEE Main 2016 AIRs were announced on June 23.

JoSAA commonly known as Joint Seat Allocation Authority 2016, performs allocation procedures joint seat of the programs offered by 92 participating institutes, 23 of which IIT, 31 NTI, 20 and 18 IIITs-GFTIs for the year school 2016-17 and over 30,000 seats will be allocated via JoSAA 2016 Counselling. The joint body formed in 2015, 

composed of representatives of the distribution of the Council of the Central House (JPAC) and the Common Admission Forum (JAB) to reduce the number of vacancies in these prestigious schools of engineers. Until 2014, the allocation procedure seating for JEE main requirements for admission to NITs, IIITs and GFTIs was carried out by CSAB and for admission to IITs and ISM Dhanbad, the process of allocating seats held by JAB qualifying for JEE advanced

JoSAA was established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) to manage and regulate the allocation of public office for admissions to various institutes for the academic year 2016-17. Candidates who have obtained a top rating JEE 2016 will be eligible for admission to the various NITs and the candidates who obtained the rank in JEE Advanced 2016 will be eligible for admission to the IITs and ISM. JoSAA Counselling Procedure 2016

Step 1: Registration

JoSAA counselling 2016 process begins with candidates registering themselves for counselling where candidates have to login using their JEE Main 2016 roll number and password.

STEP-2: Online Choice Filling / Choice Locking:

· Candidate may fill their choices in respect of college and branch. After filling their choices it is necessary to lock their choices, if candidate fail to lock their choices then last sequence of filling choices will be submitted.

· Allotment of seats would be done based on ranks of contenders, those having higher ranks will be deemed first for allowance of seats as per their choices.

· The candidates will not be allowed to modify/alter/delete/add more choices after locking their choices or after the last date of choice filling, whichever is earlier. The same choice list shall also be used for seat allotment in later rounds of counseling.

STEP -3: Seat Acceptance Fee Payment:

·         Candidates should (i) remit seat acceptance fee using the e-challan or using SBI Net Banking and (ii) report at a Reporting Center for document verification before the last date/time specified. Failure to report in person for seat acceptance will be considered as if the candidate has rejected the offer.
·         Candidates have to remit seat acceptance fee only once.

JoSAA 2016 Seat Acceptance Fee:
Rs.20,000 for candidates with the category tag SC, ST, GEN-PwD, OBC-NCL-PwD, SC-PwD or ST-PwD. For all other candidates, Rs.45,000.

STEP-4: Documents Verification:

·         Two passport size colored photographs
·         Class XII performance check (format given)
·         Provisional seat allotment letter issued by JoSAA
·         Undertaking by the candidate in given format
·         Proof of seat acceptance fee payment by e-challan or internet banking of SBI (For SC/ST/PwD Rs. 20,000/- & For others: Rs. 45,000/-)
·         Photo identity card
·         Original admit card of JEE (Advanced) 2016
·         Date of birth proof
·         Class XII mark sheet
·         Medical certificate issued by legal authority
·         Category certificate (if applicable)

STEP-5: Seat Allotment Result and Confirmation of Seats in Various Rounds Of Counseling
Once  a  seat  is  allotted  to  a  candidate,  he/she  is required  to  either confirm the allotted seats by payment of the Seat Acceptance Fee or withdraw from the process of counseling.  For the purpose, the candidate is required to 5Login again to the website using same Application Number and  Password  and  exercise  one  of  the  options  available  to  him.  Normally following  options  shall  be  available  in  most  of  the rounds  except  with  a  little variation in the Fourth round of counseling.
·         A candidate, who is satisfied with the presently allotted seat to him and do not want to be considered for up gradation of seat in subsequent round of  counseling, should opt  for  the FREEZE option in order to confirm the seat presently allotted to him
·         A  candidate,  who  want  to  confirm  the  seat  presently allotted to him and also at the same time wants to be considered for up gradation of seat in later round of counseling on the basis of his already filled choices, should opt for the FLOAT option
·         A candidate, who is not satisfied with the presently allotted seat to him and do not want to be considered for allotment in any subsequent rounds of counseling, should opt for the WITHDRAW option.
