Candidates can get admissions in B.Tech/B.Arch programmes offered by NITs, IIITs and other engineering institutions through JEE Main exam while IITs offer these courses through JEE Advanced exam. Candidates, who find themselves eligible, must go for online registration on or before the last date of application submission.


 This organization conducts this test to check the quality and ability of candidates for courses. What is New in JEE Main 2017
·         There is no minimum criterion for 12th percentage for appearing in JEE Main 2017 exam.
·         For the candidates to qualify for the admission in the IITs/NITs/IIITs and such other CFTIs whose admissions are based on the JEE (Advanced)/JEE(Main) ranks. For SC/ST students the qualifying marks would be 65% in the 12th class examination.

·         All the Indian citizen candidates should possess AADHAAR card issued by UIDAI. At the time of filling application form of JEE (Main)–2017, the candidates will have to enter their AADHAAR number, name, date of birth & gender which will be validated with the UIDAI’s data.  In case, these particulars do not match, the candidates will not be able to fill the application form for JEE (Main)–2017. 

     Therefore, the candidates are advised to ensure that their AADHAAR card has correct details of their name, date of birth & gender as per school records. If there is some mismatch in these details, the candidates should immediately get it corrected in AADHAAR data or school records, as the case may be

Eligibility criteria related to Date of Birth
  • Students who are born on or after October 1, 1992 are eligible to apply.
  • Candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Persons with Disabilities (PwD), should have been born on or after October 1, 1987. Candidates of these categories have been given a relaxation of 5 years.
Note: Date of birth will be considered as per the Secondary Education Board/University certificate.

Eligibility criteria related to qualifying exam
  • Candidates should have passed 12th class or qualifying exam in 2015 or 2016.
  • Students, who are appearing in class 12th or qualifying exam in 2017 can also apply.

Eligibility criteria related to total subjects/subject combination
  • It is mandatory for aspiring candidates to have taken 5 subjects in 12th or qualifying exam
  • The 5 subjects for B.Tech/B.E. are:
    1-Language, 2-Physics, 3-Mathematics,
4-Any one of (Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Technical Vocational Subject), 5-Any other subject
  • According to MHRD, apart from admissions to IITs, the qualifying marks for admission to NITs, IIITs and GFTIs have also been revised. As per the notification, for candidates to qualify for admissions to NITs/IIITs/GFTIs, they should have secured at least 75% marks in class 12th exam or be in the top 20 percentile in the class 12th exam conducted by the respective boards. For SC/ST candidates, the eligibility criteria is 65% marks in class 12th.    
For B.Arch/B.Planning, mathematics subject along with 50% marks in total including five subjects.

Eligibility related to total number of attempts
A JEE Main aspirant can avail 3 attempts for the national level undergraduate engineering entrance exam.
