IPS Application Form
IPS stands for Indian Police Service (Bhāratīya Police Sevā) which is another exam conducted by UPSC which is all India Service for policing. It was established in 1905. PS replaced the Indian Imperial Police in 1948, a year after India got the independence from Britishers. Among the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and the Indian Forest Service (IFS), the IPS is one of the three All India Services it is a scheme can be employed by both the Union Government and the individual States.

The service is not a command itself but provides leadership and order to staff the state police and all-India Central Armed Police Forces. They are the senior officer members of the police. The Bureau of Police Research and Development is responsible for research and development of the police force in India.Every year, lacs of candidates apply to get admission into IPS.

However, the procedure to become IPS is same as IAS. Candidates have to go through its competitive exam i.e. CSE (Civil Service Examination) held every year under the supervision of Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).

Eligibility Criteria-:
The candidate should pass or appear on the graduation exam (any stream) with 50% marks minimum from an organized University of India.  The candidate who passed the exams of a 3-year degree program or Diploma with the minimum 2nd division can also go for the exam.

The age of the candidate should not more than 32 years old and not less than 21 years old.  For SC/ST 5 years, for OBC 3 years, for defense service 3 years and for Ex-serviceman/ Military services 5 years. All should be according to acts of Indian Governments.

The physical criteria for eligibility of the IPS officer are as follows-:
·         Minimum Height - Men - 165cm               
·         Women - 150cm
·          Minimum Chest Girth - Men/Women: 84cm 79cm
·          Myopia (including cylinder) should not exceed minus 4.00D
·         Hyper myopia (including cylinder) should not exceed plus 4.00D

A 100 rupee has to pay by every candidate who applying, as application form fee via Challan or online Net are banking using any accounts. There will be no fee for SC/ST/ Female/Physically Handicapped candidates.

Selection Process-:
 There are three steps of selection process conducted by UPSC. These processes are as follows-:
·         Primarily Exam-: This is the very first process of the selection procedure for IPS. Students who wish to get recruited as the IPS will have to go their recruitment process from this very first stage.This exam is just for selecting the students for the next rounds of selection. The scores obtained by the students in this exam will not be included in the final merit list. It is important for the students to know that mere qualifying the prelims exam is not enough for recruiting.  This exam comprises of objective type questions.

·         Mains Exam-: The next stage of the IPS Selection Procedure which is the main exam.Only those students who score the minimum qualifying marks in the prelims will be allowed to appear in the main exam. Yes, this exam is quite tough than the preliminary exam.This exam aims at selecting the appropriate candidates of the most deserving students for the next round of selection. The marks of this exam will be included in the final merit list. Therefore, the students need to score well so as to get the higher place in the merit list.It comprises of nine competitive papers namely two language papers, 4 general studies papers and two optional subject papers.

·         Interview-: This is the final stage of the IPS Selection Process for IPS recruitment. This personal interview is called the personality test round. The main purpose of this round is to test the personal suitability of the candidates for a career in the public service by the board of competent.Basically, this test is intended to check the mental capacity of the candidate.It is important for the students to know that if they fail to secure good marks in this round then their rank in the merit list may get affected. In this test, the overall ability of the candidate will be judged. In order to clear this test, the students should have the proper knowledge of the current happenings of the events in their state, country and outside the country.

After this stage, a final merit list will be prepared by the official authority who qualified all the recruitment process. Based on their performance in the main exam and the interview round, the final ranking will be proposed.On the basis of the final ranking, the students will be get recruited for this deemed post i.e. Indian Police Service.

A procedure of Online Filling of Form-: 
Students can apply online on UPSC official website. Link: by pressing the link of ‘online application’. The registration process is divided into two stages.
·         Registration-: Fill all the details according to your qualification, age, and address, nationality, marital status, Email Id and phone number.Submit and get unique registration number and password to log in another form to fill required details.

·         Log in form-: Log in Again with your registration number. Fill are required column like select the center of exams, date verifies your documents and identity etc. During the process, you need to upload your scanned photographs (size 20 kb to 40 kb with proper format please take care of size photograph otherwise photo will not be uploaded) and signature (5kb to 15kb same condition for signature also) as well.

·         Payment-: Pay the required fees via Challan or online payment (Debit/Credit card or Net Banking). If you have paid fees via Challan then enter your transaction details accordingly.Choose your Examination center.Take the printout of online application for future use.

v  Current events of national and international importance.

v  History of India and Indian National Movement.
v  Indian and World Geography-Physical, Social, Economic Geography of India and the World.
v  Indian Polity and Governance – Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights Issues, etc.
v  Economic and Social Development – Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector initiatives, etc.
v  General issues in Environmental Ecology, Bio-diversity, and Climate Change – that do not require subject specialization
v  General Science.

·         Syllabus for Paper II –

v  Interpersonal skills including communication skills;
v  Logical reasoning and analytical ability
v  Decision-making and problem-solving
